What are the requirements for a NM concealed carry license?Must be 21 years old Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, a NM resident or a member/dependent of an individual in the armed forces permanently stationed in NM Must satisfactorily complete a NM DPS-approved firearms training program

What am I required to shoot as a part of the course?Successful completion of a live fire shooting qualification: Firing 25 shots at a 12×18 piece of paper Shoot 15 rounds at a distance of 3 yards and 10 rounds at 7 yards. You will receive 4 points for each shot that hits the paper and you must receive a minimum 72% to pass.

Do I need to own a handgun in order to take the course?No, but it is highly recommended for you to bring your own firearm--the fireman you are going to use to qualify--you may carry that size of handgun or smaller. TBL Firearms will have handgun rentals plus ammunition available on-site. Please let us know in advance if you will need to rent a handgun.

How long does it take to get a concealed carry license in New Mexico?Pursuant to Subsection A of NMSA 29-19-6, the department has thirty days after receiving a completed application and completing a background investigation, to either issue a license or deny the applicant. It could take up to ninety (90) days or more to complete a background investigation.
